This was a slow burn but created a layered experience of two people making a connection that was there but they missed it in the past,
I really enjoyed the characters and the football! (Go Irish!)
Do love a sports based romance. Especially women's football.
Long ago best friends and teammates, Amy and Jen now find themselves as managers of their National squads. England and Ireland and they are jointly hosting the Euros. Their animosity towards each other is legendary, no handshake on the touchline for these two and to make matters worse team are filming a full access documentary about the two managers and the Euro tournament. Amy and Jen are going to have to put on a brave face for the cameras. Another great story from Clare Lydon with a good sporting cast of characters
Yay - another superb book from my favourite author. A sweet, slow love story between two women who deserved the happiness they create together. Lots of football talk, and anxious reading of the matches. Despite knowing it's fictional, it still gets your heart beating, as it's written so well. Some chapters are flashbacks to the past, which is not usually my preferred style, however in this case it flowed well and didn't confuse the current storyline. The lead characters Jen and Amy, are both realistic but also very lovable, and leave you rooting for them the whole way through. Rest assured, a happy ever after ends the day, which for me, is a must with this genre. Thanks for another smashing book Clare. I'd definitely recommend this queer romance and all the others in her fast growing collection.
